Yas Hotel, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Yas Hotel by night
We decided to spend our 2010 Christmas Holidays in Abu Dhabi which was around an hour drive from Dubai and I booked our two night stay at the Yas Hotel.

There is a valet parking available for guests. Check in was quick. They require a deposit of 500AED which was very unlikely compared to the other hotels we've stayed. Anyway, the receptionist was kind enough to upgrade our room. The stayed in an executive room with 2 double beds. The ambience was cozy and we had a view of the Marina Circuit.

There was a remote control which you can use for the TV, lights and curtains. The kids had a great time playing with it. One thing that's noticeable was the water from the bath tub. The color was rusty that's why the kids settled for the shower. For a five star hotel I expected that the toiletries to be complete but they were not. Another thing was the smell outside the rooms going to the elevator. I can't really describe it but it was awful so we had to walk fast (kids run) to get in and out of the room.

The swimming pool at the rooftop was small but enough for the kids to enjoy. The lifeguards gave instructions on the depth of the pool and gave floaters. Towels are provided, they just need the room number.

Christmas treats for the kids

It was Christmas so there was an event in the lobby at night time. The group who performed christmas carols were really good. We felt the spirit of christmas. The hotel also gave out some sweets and hot chocolate for free. A man in Santa costume gave out candies to the kids.

We had dinner at the Noodle Box. We stayed in the terrace with the Marina view. The food was great. We ordered spring rolls and dim sums for starters then nasi goreng, mi goreng, mixed rice and deserts. The price was reasonable.

We didn't try the other restos since we were out most of the time. We also visited Ferrari World and the other beautiful places that Abu Dhabi had to offer :)
